Your Own Water for the Lawn and Landscape

A well dedicated to irrigation takes sprinkler demand off city water and off the well that supplies your house.

Florida treats an irrigation well as non-potable. It feeds the sprinklers and hose bibs, not the kitchen tap. It still needs a well construction permit like any other new well, and we prepare and file that paperwork for you.

Placement matters. Florida rules call for at least 50 feet between a septic tank or drainfield and a non-potable well, compared with 75 feet for a drinking water well. We plan the spot around your septic system, driveway, and property lines, then drill to water that can keep up with the system you want to run. Want one well to supply both the house and the yard? Tell us up front, and we will site, build, and test it as a drinking water well.

Rust Stains on Walks and Walls?

USGS studies found high iron in the shallow groundwater under parts of Okeechobee County. Sprayed onto concrete, stucco, and fences, that iron leaves orange streaks. Treating the irrigation water can keep it off your walls.

Sprinkler Repair That Finds the Real Cause

A dry patch can come from a clogged nozzle, a stuck valve, a cut wire, or a tired pump. We test until we know which one.

Swapping heads at random wastes your money. We run each zone, check pressure at the pump and at the heads, test the valves and wiring, and read through the controller program before we replace anything. Then we show you what failed and fix it.

Tune-Ups and Hard-to-Find Parts

Most sprinkler problems start small: a head knocked crooked by the mower, a filter packed with sand, a controller still running last season’s schedule. A maintenance visit catches them before the lawn shows it.

SFWMD Year-Round Rule

Watering Rules Apply to Private Wells Too

Owning the well does not exempt the lawn. The South Florida Water Management District’s year-round landscape irrigation rule covers every water source, private wells included.

The district takes in St. Lucie, Martin, Glades, and Palm Beach counties, most of Okeechobee County, and part of Highlands. Indian River County and the north end of Okeechobee County fall under the St. Johns River district instead, so check which rules cover your address. Counties and cities can also adopt stricter ordinances.

No Watering 10 am to 4 pm

Landscape irrigation is off limits in the hottest part of the day, when much of the water would evaporate anyway.

Your allowed watering days depend on your address. We program the controller to match them.

Built-In Exceptions

New landscaping, system repairs, and low-volume or hand watering have their own allowances.

Already have a pond? We look at its size, depth, and setting, then fit a floating fountain or aerator to match. If a water feature has quit running, we repair its pump and plumbing, too.

Want a water feature that runs on the wind? A windmill set over a well can keep an ornamental pond or lake topped off and circulating, and the mill itself becomes a landmark on the property.
